Dear Thriving Introvert! In this newsletter, I'll cover:
SMART Goals: Career growth without the social media hustle
You don't need to post daily to get recruited. Do this instead.
Is your Experience section a wall of text?
It's the first week of February, and that doesn't mean you are behind if you haven't set any goals for this year.
In fact, many people are already abandoning the goals they set last month because they didn't account for the energy required to achieve the 10 items on their list.
How do I know this? I can give you a gym example. Last month, even parking was hard to find with packed group fitness classes. This week? The gym is already back to normal.
Saying, "I want a new job this year," isn't the same as saying, "I want a new job by September, so I'll update my resume this week, then next weekend, my LinkedIn profile. Then, I will set aside two hours on Sundays to apply to jobs and send out messages." That's a plan, what you can measure and track.

π‘ SMART Goals: Career growth without the social media hustle
There is a specific kind of pressure that comes with planning your professional future.
You look at standard career advice, and it usually boils down to: "Network more." Post daily. Be the loudest voice in the room.
For the extroverted leader, that might sound exciting. But for the introverted Manager or Director, it often sounds like a path to exhaustion.
This creates what I call the "Quiet Ambition" Paradox.
You have high aspirations. You want the Director title, the larger team, and the bigger impact. But the method usually prescribed to get there (relentless self-promotion) feels inauthentic and draining.
You donβt need to change your personality to change your career trajectory.
True career growth for an introvert is about precision. It is about leveraging your natural strengths to achieve the same outcomes with half the energy expenditure.
β
Here are two ways to shift your goal-setting immediately:
The Energy Audit (The "A" in SMART): When setting a goal, stop asking "Is this possible?" and start asking "Does my social battery allow for this?" Don't commit to three networking events a week if you are already in meetings for 40 hours. That isn't ambition; it's self-sabotage.
The "Inbound" Strategy: Instead of a goal to "Apply to 50 jobs," set a goal to "Optimize my digital presence so recruiters find me." Let your LinkedIn profile do the heavy lifting while you sleep.
How do you adapt the traditional SMART goal framework for leadership roles? And how do you build an "Internal PR" campaign that doesn't feel gross?
π» You don't need to post daily to get recruited. Do this instead.
If you missed last week's article, I discussed Improve Your LinkedIn Profile: 5 Stress-Free Strategies for Introverted Leaders. If you are an introvert, the advice to "just put yourself out there" on LinkedIn probably makes you want to do the exact opposite. Instead of wasting time posting daily or spending 1 hour per day commenting, optimize your profile with these stress-free strategies this weekend.
For introverts, writing about ourselves can feel like bragging. We often default to copying and pasting dry bullet points from our resumes. But this makes you unreadable.
3 Quick tweaks for your LinkedIn experience section:
Craft a Narrative: Don't just list duties. Tell the story of your contribution.
Use Social Proof: Lean on endorsements and recommendations. It takes the pressure off you to "sell" yourself when others do it for you.
Format for Skimmers: I share exactly how to use symbols and spacing to make your profile stand out to busy recruiters.
Stop treating LinkedIn like a digital resume.

βIn this article, I share how to structure your experience so it sells your skills for you, without the "loud" self-promotion.

Dear Thriving Introvert! In this newsletter, I'll cover: You have 7 seconds. Does your profile pass the test? The part of leadership no one prepares you for Is LinkedIn your "Social Battery" drain of the day? One of the big takeaways some of my clients get with their LinkedIn profiles is this: "Wow! I didn't know my profile needed so much work. I love how it looks now. Thank you!" My goal is to ensure you love the profile and can speak about it, while it works in the background to ensure you...

Plan your exit quietly LinkedIn for job seekers has changed. Last week, my healthcare plan sent me a message about granting me access to the Headspace app as part of the coverage. It felt like a sooo needed gift in times of uncertainty. I was already a fan and a former subscriber, so I was smiling. I haven't met another human who...
